In all things & at all times, be you.

Life is short and the total truth of it is, none of us knows just how short. Some live to be 100, sure....though given how time flies, what is a 100 years even? Whether we live to be 5 or 85, I find that we often waste so much time bickering, complaining, & worrying. I mean, we already spend so much time sleeping, bathing, eating, etc. During our time when we're awake and able to do things & interact with others, why aren't we spending that time more wisely? I am a huge culprit of…

This is Love Calling

This is love calling

Can you hear me?

I'm trying to get your attention

But your back has been turned

I know you have been through a lot

This world has been cruel

Do you see that girl crying over there?…

Every Season Has Its Time

The snow falls gently upon the ground

It's nestled upon the branches of the trees

Winter can be so beautiful

While much of nature is asleep

It grows and gathers its strength

For the upcoming Spring

Kicking the snow with my feet

I let out a laugh

A childlike sound

Shoveling & driving in the snow isn't my cup of tea

But I do like to go outside now and then

To play, like I once used…

                           "The Assassination of an Eagle"

The vibrantly colored, neon messenger bird flew quickly through the forest, with a incredible message. He flew over the lush green trees and growth, with the afternoon sun blaring in his red eyes. It was the middle of summer, in July, and all the birds in the country were hot and restless, so think of this bird: Flapping his wings…

Ghost Story! Oct. 31 writing challenge

Alice ran as fast as she could towards the town, and towards the rising sunlight, on November 1st. She screamed, not knowing what was behind her, or around her. Alice's gothic, vampire dress from her Halloween party was ripped and stained, and her blonde hair was desheveled and dirty, as the rest of her. Again she screamed, and she tripped on her way sailing down towards the town. With a loud yell, she forced herself to her feet and resumed her seemingly futile flee to Carlaville. She…

2011 New Hampshire Highland Games, part two, The Music

When I first started listening to “Celtic Rock” music, there were two bands that made up most of my “must have” list – Seven Nations and Brother.  Just as I discovered Seven Nations, Neil Anderson was leaving to do his own thing and I while I have always considered him a top-shelf piper, I never cared for his singing voice and sometimes felt he really couldn’t carry a tune.  So, I pretty much ignored him until the first time I heard his current band,

Rathkeltair.  Drummer, Nick… Continue

2011 New Hampshire Highland Games, part one, The Games

For several years now I’ve heard about the

New Hampshire Highland Games and Loon Mountain.  This year I finally had an opportunity to attend the games and it was quite a pleasant experience for a great number of reasons.

Initially, my interest was in being at “Loon” for the sake of seeing something new.  There are exactly three Celtic festivals in my area annually and none of them is held on a mountain.  Plus, I’ve never been farther north than Rhode Island and that was…

Walking Meditation

Preface:

I’ve been increasingly interested in meditation for various reasons (spiritual exploration, to help with concentration, connecting mind and body, learning something new…), but one thing I hadn’t thought about was bringing a clarity and calmness of mind that…

sleep.

“So inept at twisted words and crooked deeds, it was if I slept and dreamt” a line from Edna St.Vincent Millay's poem “I forgot for a moment.” To most these words seem as a reference to a sweet peaceful dream world. However, to people who have come, face to face, with true soul ripping fear, any type of actual sleep is better than a living nightmare. Vincent is referring to a…

Revelation

This fragile line brings sadness

Down my spine.

Striking my reasoning,

Breaking my mind,

Found logic, wreaks my thoughts.

Corrupting my precious…

Dear Me at 18

Dear Me at 18,

Here are some quotes and lyrics that you will find speak to your heart.

I am placing them here so that they are easier to find.

I can't stop the things that will happen to you, or the ones that have already happened, but I can promise you that things will get better the absolute minute you stop believing that you aren't worth very much.

"Make the most of your regrets; never smother your sorrow, but tend and cherish it till…

Creative Writing Challenge: Letter to my 18 year old self

Dear Me,

I know this will seem a bit odd, but I'm you from the future with some words of advice. First of all, Happy 18th Birthday! Secondly, Randy is going to show up. Maybe you should wear a better outfit. ;) Enjoy your party at the house tonight. But, after that, it's time to start getting down to business. You're just about done with your G.E.D., good for you. But, I think you need to get the ball rolling on your college applications. The way things stand right now,…

Lyrics of my new song What to Say

What to Say

What to say

Words held at bay

How can I fully express

The things that are causing distress

Of earthquakes and hurricanes, nonstop rain

Wondering if we’ll ever be sane

Or are we in for just more pain?

What to say

Words held at bay

Images mangled, held back in fear

Wondering what is keeping me here

With needless wars and political oppression

Knowing we are headed towards…

Hello? Hello? Is this thing working?

I started blogging back in the day when Myspace was an actual viable social network. That bygone era before Facebook was deemed Ruler of All Social Networks, and Myspace  became the advertising flyer attached to peoples’ Facebook pages that’s about as appealing as the inside of Rupert Murdoch’s brain on bad acid.

I can’t tweet. Or at least I won’t. Except maybe on the rare occasion when I sense that my twelve rabid Twitter followers are just salivating in…

"A Return to the People: Relfections on 9/11"

(ATLANTA - 11 September 2011) Taking stock of ourselves is dirty work. But on a day like today, the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, it’s the best job we can undertake.

The attacks were ghastly and altering, changing our country’s composition down to its DNA. But what we did in response trumps even those dastardly deeds: we gave ourselves over to the very “evil” that attacked us in the first place.

“Pride”…

In Remeberance of September 11, 2001

In Remembrance...

Ten years and the pain is still strong.

A lifetime will not erase the memories of those who are gone.

The images will forever be etched in our minds.

Amazing what hate can do to mankind.

Left to dwell we could all give in.

Focus on the anger but sin is sin.

Let us forgive but never forget.

Revenge is not sweet but fills with regret.

On this…
