where creative minds can interact
I am a volunteer usher at the Capitol Center for the Arts in NH, where this event was held, and I was the orchestra level floor captain, responsible for all seating and logistics in the 1,000-seat orchestra where candidates' families and campaigns, selected press, and the general public were seated. It's amazing the planning that goes into this kind of event, but it paid off; the event went very smoothly. I'm working on a longer summary - hard to summarize such big events. Probably…

Unbeknownst to Mitt Romney, his presidential bid is doomed to failure. His fate is sealed. The White House just ain't in the cards. How do I know this? Simple, really. I hitchhiked through Utah in the early 1970's.
As Joe Walsh once stated in an album title, "You Can't Argue With A Sick Mind". So please allow me to make my case.
I was…

Nature is the Great Teacher, the Great Leveller... the Big It. So it is always humbling to learn from Her.
My most recent encounter was in the world of that most humble of creatures, the squirrel. Tree rats, as some folks disparagingly call 'em around here.
Squirrels are generally perky little creatures, chattering with their tails wagging in warning to their kin about potential danger. They bury nuts, which grow into trees, if they aren't eaten beforehand. And…

So, here I am back in the computer loop and able to communicate through the ether once more! I hope that everybody had a fantastic time with friends and family! My holidays are usually spent in transit between families and this year was no different. Kathy and I spent Christmas with my family and were able to stay for about 4 days with them. We had 4 of the 5…

May God make your year a happy one!
Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,
But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;
Not by making your path easy,
But by making you sturdy to travel any path;
Not by taking hardships from you, …

'This Brand New New Year's Night'
(Suffocate Me with Your Love)
copyright 2011 by Richard Reiley
Suffocate me with your love baby
Let's forget the selfish things
Your last year's guy was no gentleman
My girl no saintly queen
Let's get lost in the wilderness
Of this champagne hotel bed
Close the blinds and lose our minds
And live it up instead
Make me gasp…

Hey all, I know that I don't come on here and discuss much, but I just discovered that I have almost completely lost my music library! I had it all stored on my laptop and had even transfered(copied) it to a free standing hard drive to keep it a little safer. Well, apparently with that same hard drive hooked up to my computer, I had plugged in my Zune player overnight to charge and sync and during that time my entire library was mysteriously expunged from both locations.
I have a few…

Dear Santa-
I'd like to thank you for all the wonderful surprises I have found under my tree! I was never disappointed! This year I really don't need a thing. I have everything I could ever want. If you don't mind, could you spread my gifts among those who could really use…

Life is short and the total truth of it is, none of us knows just how short. Some live to be 100, sure....though given how time flies, what is a 100 years even? Whether we live to be 5 or 85, I find that we often waste so much time bickering, complaining, & worrying. I mean, we already spend so much time sleeping, bathing, eating, etc. During our time when we're awake and able to do things & interact with others, why aren't we spending that time more wisely? I am a huge culprit of…

This is love calling
Can you hear me?
I'm trying to get your attention
But your back has been turned
I know you have been through a lot
This world has been cruel
Do you see that girl crying over there?…

The snow falls gently upon the ground
It's nestled upon the branches of the trees
Winter can be so beautiful
While much of nature is asleep
It grows and gathers its strength
For the upcoming Spring
Kicking the snow with my feet
I let out a laugh
A childlike sound
Shoveling & driving in the snow isn't my cup of tea
But I do like to go outside now and then
To play, like I once used…

The vibrantly colored, neon messenger bird flew quickly through the forest, with a incredible message. He flew over the lush green trees and growth, with the afternoon sun blaring in his red eyes. It was the middle of summer, in July, and all the birds in the country were hot and restless, so think of this bird: Flapping his wings…

Alice ran as fast as she could towards the town, and towards the rising sunlight, on November 1st. She screamed, not knowing what was behind her, or around her. Alice's gothic, vampire dress from her Halloween party was ripped and stained, and her blonde hair was desheveled and dirty, as the rest of her. Again she screamed, and she tripped on her way sailing down towards the town. With a loud yell, she forced herself to her feet and resumed her seemingly futile flee to Carlaville. She…

Initially, my interest was in being at “Loon” for the sake of seeing something new. There are exactly three Celtic festivals in my area annually and none of them is held on a mountain. Plus, I’ve never been farther north than Rhode Island and that was…

“So inept at twisted words and crooked deeds, it was if I slept and dreamt” a line from Edna St.Vincent Millay's poem “I forgot for a moment.” To most these words seem as a reference to a sweet peaceful dream world. However, to people who have come, face to face, with true soul ripping fear, any type of actual sleep is better than a living nightmare. Vincent is referring to a…

I’ve been increasingly interested in meditation for various reasons (spiritual exploration, to help with concentration, connecting mind and body, learning something new…), but one thing I hadn’t thought about was bringing a clarity and calmness of mind that…

Dear Me at 18,
Here are some quotes and lyrics that you will find speak to your heart.
I am placing them here so that they are easier to find.
I can't stop the things that will happen to you, or the ones that have already happened, but I can promise you that things will get better the absolute minute you stop believing that you aren't worth very much.
"Make the most of your regrets; never smother your sorrow, but tend and cherish it till…
