where creative minds can interact
What to Say
What to say
Words held at bay
How can I fully express
The things that are causing distress
Of earthquakes and hurricanes, nonstop rain
Wondering if we’ll ever be sane
Or are we in for just more pain?
What to say
Words held at bay
Images mangled, held back in fear
Wondering what is keeping me here
With needless wars and political oppression
Knowing we are headed towards…

Dear Me,
I know this will seem a bit odd, but I'm you from the future with some words of advice. First of all, Happy 18th Birthday! Secondly, Randy is going to show up. Maybe you should wear a better outfit. ;) Enjoy your party at the house tonight. But, after that, it's time to start getting down to business. You're just about done with your G.E.D., good for you. But, I think you need to get the ball rolling on your college applications. The way things stand right now,…

I started blogging back in the day when Myspace was an actual viable social network. That bygone era before Facebook was deemed Ruler of All Social Networks, and Myspace became the advertising flyer attached to peoples’ Facebook pages that’s about as appealing as the inside of Rupert Murdoch’s brain on bad acid.
I can’t tweet. Or at least I won’t. Except maybe on the rare occasion when I sense that my twelve rabid Twitter followers are just salivating in…

(ATLANTA - 11 September 2011) Taking stock of ourselves is dirty work. But on a day like today, the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, it’s the best job we can undertake.
The attacks were ghastly and altering, changing our country’s composition down to its DNA. But what we did in response trumps even those dastardly deeds: we gave ourselves over to the very “evil” that attacked us in the first place.
“Pride”…

A woman wakes up at 2:03am
Rolls over to wake her husband
"You need to get up,
We need to get you to the airport"
Grudgingly, the man slowly sits up
They get ready in silence
Sleepily, they drink their coffee…

My mama disappeared that summer. Funny thing about memory, sometimes I don’t know the difference between my own true recollection and things I’ve been told. Maybe that’s due partly to hearing bits and pieces of this story over and…

Family gatherings--Joy, joy, joy! Sometimes not! Cranky ones, loud ones, yappin' pets, crabby kids--but, in the end, it is all joy. This too shall pass and David and I begin our journey of empty nester-dom! The beginning of this transition is this Saturday as our first leaves our nest, to thrive in a NEW nest--a St. Joe's hawks nest!
Odd how the whole thing happens. We trolled down the aisles of Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond over the past few weeks. Hangers, shelves, shower…

August 15 "Quickie" Writing challenge:
I really like gemstones. Like most people do, because they are shiny and come in many, many different varieties. If I were to get a gemstone, I couldn't care less if it was plastic or rock, as what really interests me is its beauty and color. I remember in seventh grade, the unit we did on gemstones, about luster, streak, weight, and everything else. My favorite gemstone would probably be either Lapis Lazulli or Amethyst. Lapis…

As the two blue collar workers and recently laid off teacher sat at the Governor's table, they feigned interest as the pompous politician stood and proclaimed with a sly grin, ""Don't attack my dog or you might get shot ... if you're a coyote!"
Waxing and waning, he went on to regal the captive audience with how he always carries his .380 Ruger loaded with hollow point bullets when jogging on trails because of his healthy fear of snakes.
'Snakes'…

A catalog of boxing equipment, a collage of other poems,
Serpentine trail of incense, raised deer fur, old shoes pointed pigeon-toed,
Glass and steel cityscape, almond eyes of a saint, weeping tiny flowers,
Sunlight on whitewashed walls, blue shadows of stooped women,
A spring mousetrap, a trickle of blood in the…

and the air wet as a river
rolling down my spine
the shade isn't enough
when the sun sends streamers of moisture
through the glade
night falls slow
but dreams call
quick if hollow
floating away from it all
Note: The picture is from my brother's trip to visit our niece in…

I wake up from the strangest dream
Only to have music stuck in my head
I know it's late because it's still dark
I turn to look at the clock
It's nearly 3:30A.M.
Part of me wants to go back to sleep
But upon a sudden…
