A whispered "Good-bye"
Can sometimes be louder than
The end of the world.

Who Am I?

When you look at me, who do you see? Do you see my father with a beer

in his hand all day long? Do you see my mother with her baggage? Do you

see my siblings and their issues? Do you see one of my friends whom you

don't like for whatever reason? Who do you see? I look in the mirror

and I see me, not anyone else. I have features that show whose blood

runs in my veins. I even do and say things that sound/look like… Continue

Hands of Time

Goes the clock

As I stare at the stars

I hear time march forward

I wish I could stop time

Re-write what I've said

And what I've done

Then maybe you'd still be here with me

But I can't control time

It isn't mine

The stars are my friends

My tears I share with them

Hands of time …

Evening and the Symphony

Feet tumble over each other as we spill out the back gate into the driveway.

Six feet between us, Winslow and me.

He scampers too and fro taking in nature's scents,

One more wonderful than the next--at least as far as he's concerned.

Sun is setting yet the light is still enough,

To guide our feet and light our…

Guys & Dolls

all of that have been there front & center the last few days.

We all, men & women, have been hurt by someone...by someone we

dated, were married to, were friends with, our own family even....and

in the heat of the moment, it is so easy to say things like: MEN SUCK

or WOMEN SUCK! (along with other things lol) But you know, I have come

to realize it's not just one or the…

My book Collider in paperback

The paperback version of my book Collider is now out on booksellers' websites for pre-order. I'm really pleased with the colorful new cover. I wrote a brand new preface for the book, updating readers about what has been happening with the Large Hadron Collider, the largest particle-smasher in the world, since 2009.

Your Kid's Ear

Your Kid's Ear

I was one of those booked baby-sitters on the block when I was a young teenager. And although the kids were fun, and making money was new and exciting, the real thrill for me was that I was allowed to use the phone as much as I wanted after the kids went to bed. Imagine that. Saturday night was…

Message to the Future

Smashed glass, plastic bottles near decomposed,

aluminum cans bearing the words Pabst Blue Ribbon,

Coca-cola, Sprite, Mountain Dew,

Styrofoam scraps, once burger-holding boxes,

shreds of black bags, clinging to branches like ravens,

graffiti in bulbous script on rock walls...

some day these will be our potshards

and our petroglyphs,

our mementoes to be found by archeologists,

our culture's messages to the future:

Hello!…
