My Old Dog

'My Old Dog'

I said good bye to an old friend last week. My dog Allie. A mutt with a crippled foot, sort of a long haired dachshund but not quite. She found me in downtown Cushing nearly 11 years ago and I took her home with me. She added much to my life that I have yet to fully fathom.

One week after taking her home I had a heart attack and in the ensuing weeks and months while Karen was working herself to death to nurse me back to health and keep the house and business afloat, this… Continue

I'm minding my own business
And the world gets weird.

A brass whale can't swim.

A leaded glass bird can't fly.

I'm the right stuff now.

Talking to one another...

I posted this today on my Facebook page and Lisa suggested I posted it here, too. So, here it is:

My stomach hurts.

For better or worse, I am an emotional being. Are you familiar with the color gels used on stage lights? Those films placed over plain ol' white lights to create different colors on a stage? Emotions are the gels through which pretty much every thing comes to me or leaves from me.

Most of the time I'm alright with this. Others are too. Many… Continue

Ever accelerating;

Suddenly stopping.

Two weeks

I just realized that with the posting of tonight's haiku, I now have only 2 weeks left to go with this project. I'd just like to admit now that it's been harder than I thought to write over 350 haikus. But it's also been very easy because at times they have almost written themselves.  Anyway, I'd appreciate it if you would stick around and see this thing through to the end with me.  Thanks.

Me being profoundly profound :)

On my way to work, my mind was on the go, go, go! I'm a person thatbelieves in signs, if you will. Sometimes, these signs are shown to meon actual signs. I spend a lot of time reading, even when driving; I'mreading the signs/billboards along the way and then playing letter/wordgames, it keeps my mind occupied....especially because I haven't had aworking radio in my car for years now lol. I digress, so anyway...Idon't see hidden messages on every sign I read, if I did...my mindwould explode…

Every Heart Has A Song

There's a song within all of us

Many try to quiet the tune

Keeping it to themselves

And others let it be heard by anyone willing to listen

Proclaiming who they are and how they feel

When people let their songs be played together

It can create a symphony

Melodies and harmonies working together

To create the…

Where Do I Belong?

Thoughts spill from my mind

But my mind is still overflowing

There's no room inside my head

I'm trying to sort things out

Just trying to make sense of it all

I look to the left

I look to the right

I can't tell which direction I'm supposed to go

I thought I knew where my life was headed

And then…

possibilities

in the fullness of the memory

it seems that I was disappointed

yet again

unflinching

and yet I swelled with pride

unbidden come to rest upon my bosom

and finding peace

did dance

without much glitter

though in peace

and so does a goal astound

I want that which is denied me

I am not he who waits

though so I must become

before my truths are revealed

unfinished

There are certain things you wait for patiently

and certain others for which

Right Now!

is all that will do

I mean, you know how much you like your coffee?

in the morning evening even afternoon

and when you're out it's over!

the whole world is going to hell in a bucket

and you are most assuredly

NOT enjoying the ride

There are certain things you don't mind needing

and certain of…
