from a small seed becomes a giant,

found in places untamed and so defiant,

out stretched arms reach for heavens light,

with age, leaves grow, turn from dull to bright,

they shelter us from the heat,

its shade spans several feet,

It is an artist tree,

brilliant colors to see, 

Leaves shaped like an upside down flower,

bugs seem to devour,

If you cut it down,

it surrenders it age with a frown,

Dreams of unknow future flow to my finger tips. Eyes stretched to the heavens, seeking. Imagine untold is a terible crime. Men who glue feathers to sticks, and fly to close to the sun, is insparation undone. dare to dream and share your dream, insparation flows to another. Sticks of wood and metal engine spun on the drawings of an artist. Aveation now posible, an Enterprisewas built. A dream shared again, Flight into the unknown. The unknown followed by a  "What if?"

Who is this staring at me?

I don't recognize the face I see

Time has changed so much

The way I smile, laugh, and touch

Deep within, I'm still the same

My faith, my heart, my name

One's core can remain in tact

So much else changes, that's a fact

My nature has always been to love

That was instilled in my soul from above

The way that I show it now has grown

There was a time long ago

Or maybe not so long ago at all

When I couldn't feel Your presence

Though You were right there with me

Upon a tornardo, I spun

Wreckless, I tore through town

Doing as I pleased

Never fully facing the consequences

Giving into peer pressure

Partying it up

Staying up late

Hey let me take another hit

The lines between my realities blurred

A yearning for…

A thin film covered my eyes

Through it, I saw what the puppet master wanted me to see

I let him hold the strings

I danced, cried, laughed, and lived as he wanted me to

He held the power

Because I gave it to him

Freely, without reservation

Take my life in your hands and I will do as you wish

He’d build me up

I’d see beauty all around me

I’d laugh, smile, and love with all I had

     For my third gourd gifting adventure I did not have to look far for a particular gourd that was to embody my creativity. Nope, I did not need to look far because when I cut the top off the gourd I used for my second gourd gifting I set that gourd's neck next to my violets waiting to be planted. Standing in front of the mirror

I see the changes

Old versions of me shed themselves

Without even noticing at the time

That was what pain, determination, and love did to me

A year from now, there will be more changes

As yet more of my old skin flakes off

Even weeks from now

Perhaps even tomorrow

Ever growing, ever evolving

I am not the girl I once was

And nor am I the girl I will be

This was actually written the week after I attended my favorite Aunts funeral in 2007.  It's the anniversary of her birth today and the anniversary of her death tomorrow.  She's sorely missed, so I'm posting this in her memory.

I have given a lot of thought to some things lately and I want to share the mutterings of my mind with you.
