I step into the night, fleeing what I cannot see
Carrying candle lit to light my darkened way
Heart beating words of hope
That your light will pull me like
The moth
I pray
I run
I hide

Carrying my life as if I know my way
Heart skipping beats as
Fear chews up my faith
And darkens
And hides
And sways me away
From life and sweetness of
Thee
I step into my fright, seeing what I know
Carrying my faith to clear my way
Heart soothing my chaffed soul
As your Divine Love
Pulls me like the
Soul

Indeed, it is fun to paint with words. ;) I can be inspired by just about anything....music, nature, people, events, just random thoughts, etc and it's exhilarating and freeing to be able to express one's self that way. Nice piece, enjoyed reading it.

i write poetry once in a very long while too. i have to sit down and decide to do it, though. and it's hard to find time to say "ok i think i'll write a poem now". but we need to do it. i have two poems on here on my blog space if you haven't seen them. but i don't really think of myself as a poet. but you're right. it's a wonderful way to pain with words! i might try again soon now that you've inspired me!

Thank you Lisa :-) I appreciate the encouragement. Years and years ago all I did was write poetry. I have several reams of poetry floating around this place/world! One of my goals is to reach deep inside myself, drawing upon that long forgotten well and retrieve genuine "me" ! Poetry is a tricky, beautiful form of painting with words :-)

"i step into my fright"....i love this. i need to step into my fear too. but who wants to do that? but who can NOT do that and still e alive? this is so wonderfully balanced that it even LOOKS beautiful on the page. really nice work, maryanne. really nice!
