where creative minds can interact
So, friends and neighbors! I am adventuring in the land of old home renovation and I'm here to tell you that the 'venturin' is extreme at times and always interesting. I will try to add a few photos every few days or so, but please bear with me as I am still attempting to complete some very essential projects before cold weather sets in. I may mispost some photos 'cause I'm still a…

The air turns cool, winter is nearly here
Though right now is autumn's turn to shine
The leaves change color and begin to fall
It's so beautiful to watch the seasons change
God surely made a truly special place
Homecoming dances and parades…

When you're here
Things are generally great
You make me laugh, uncontrollably at times
I hadn't smiled like that it what felt like ages
You have helped me begin to heal
You have been a friend to me
Always willing to…

Just sitting among the clouds
Feeling weightless
Loved and adored
Nothing could bring me down
Not from way up here
Cloud nine had nothing on the way I felt
When you were with me
Your…

The sun is shining
The air is just right
Smells of summer still linger
I try with all I have to enjoy it
But inside, the darkness grows
Sometimes I'm so optimistic
The hope I feel is so strong…

Our loved wiffle member Tom Ryan passed away last night. It's terribly sad. But in the sadness, our other loved member D'Jeanne Newberry Duncan found a gift. She had posted something to fb that inspired Tom to quickly write a song. D'J and I discussed it and felt we should share his email and lyrics. Godspeed, Tom. We love you and thank you for sharing yourself with the world! It's called "Potential".
hey d'jeanne,
I guess this falls under the category of "be…

What you see is the expression on my face of exasperation upon learning that my fellow packsters were going to invite a stranger into OUR pack! I just could not wrap my mind around why our happy home would need another dog ... and all I could think was, "oh woof is me!"
So, here I was as happy as any four legged family member could be and Pop and Mom…

It's Wednesday night
He's out at the bar with the guys
Instead of being at home
Tucking his little girl in
Reading her Green Eggs & Ham
A little voice tries to speak to him
He hears it…

The way that I feel when I am with you
Takes my breath away
I still get so nervous when you're so close
Like a girl who has yet to experience her first kiss
It's such an intense thing
When you're not here
I find that I…

One Halloween, my gorgeous, outrageous and tremendous niece had a very original costume idea. She dressed as a fluffer. Don’t know what a fluffer is? Here’s Wikipedia’s definition:
A fluffer is a hired member of the crew of a pornographic movie whose role on the set is to sexually arouse the male participants prior to the filming of scenes requiring erections. The term was also extended to include female…

'The Senator and the Banker'
copyright 2012 by Richard Reiley
The Senator asked the Banker some really tough questions
Like how are your children? How was your day?
Then the Banker walked out with the billion dollars that he stole
While every one else looked the other way
He wasn't sworn under oath to tell the truth
They didn't want to challenge his dignity
Which he earned by legally cheating…

I really should be doing laundry and getting ready to go to the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in two days. However, Saturday’s show at Eddie’s Attic deserves a few words.
Peyton Tochterman opened the evening with a fabulous set. I have enjoyed his music in the past, but I think this set was my favorite yet. Last year at Woodyfest, his was the only CD I purchased (I had said I wasn’t going to buy any, but such is the life of a music junkie). His stories were both funny and moving. …

On July 4, two teams of researchers from CERN, Europe's center for particle physics research, made an extraordinary announcement, reporting the discovery of a new particle that appeared to match the profile of the long-sought Higgs boson. One team, using the CMS detector, announced the discovery of a particle with a mass of 125 GeV (giga-electron volts), and the other, using the ATLAS detector, reported a mass of 126 GeV. In tandem, they had found impressive evidence for a major…
