This is a poem which I wrote many long years ago. To give it some context, I have had the frog in question following me around for all of my adult (not grown-up) life and it's orgins were back in my childhood. I was raised in Northern Minnesota not terribly far from where my father grew up. My mother was a southern girl from the state of Virginia and endured the northern climes, but we regularly vacationed in the south and were always surrounded by her large and loving family. My…

Ruts in the writing life happen. We grasp our way through a story, do the research, and realize it’s not the one we’re supposed to tell. At least not yet. We bump along in that rut for awhile until a new path
appears, scattered with red and…

Just-sharpened pencils,
A new notebook with paper;
Smells like fresh knowledge.

Did you ever wonder why music touches everyone? I have. No matter how
young, old, or the culture it touches something very primitive in all
of us. Music has the power to make one laugh or cry or come together.
Music is magic. Don't believe me? Just watch a crowd at a concert no
matter the genre. Watch concert goers sing every verse to a ballad or
get swept away deep into a concerto. Watch a teen bop to a booming base
in a car or brood in the bedroom to the…

My pillow misses my head.
Is it bedtime yet?

This lyric is a gentle reminder to me that it's ok to be human.

"Sometimes, even music cannot substitute for tears" - Paul Simon,
The Cool, Cool River, Rhythm of the Saints.
The power of music is strong. It's a fact. It's not always clear how or why these sounds affect us so much, but they do. People associate times and…

Yes, I am married to a very strange man. We have not lived together for 2 years. He chooses to live a very different lifestyle. My beloved is truly a gypsy. Even today he is living in a home where he has bought time. In approximately 2 weeks he will be on the street again with 5 dogs and 4 cats. Currently he is living there with no electricity or water. Althought he tells me I'm the one living wrong and working for the MAN! at least I am now living in comfort unlike himself. I love this man and…

Small in stature he is a charming ball of energy with the biggest brown eyes you have ever seen.
The eyelashes on those brown eyes are amazingly long. If it were not for such charm and pure talent he probably would not be where he is today. I am sure he is very thankful that he is.
