From the very beginning, something changes within

Feelings & emotions new & difficult to understand begin

As a tiny life begins to grow within, you begin to see

It’s not just about you anymore, it’s now mainly about that little baby

As your body changes & your hormones rage out of control

The land of the brave & home of the free

That is what you are to many, including me

Across vast & might oceans and distant seas

Some see us as a land of greed & shallow vanity

It is true that our nation has its troubles, that's easy to see

And there are plenty I know who are ready & willing to…

We all have ways in which we express who we are

Some design buildings, others dance, and there some who bake

Many are the ways in which we can showcase our thoughts & feelings

For me, it is through the …

Some stresses in my life feel difficult to defeat

But know that head on my problems I will meet

I will stumble, fall, & sometimes feel pretty low

But in the end, I will rise each time & be ready to go

Head held high, facing the challenges ahead

The struggles I face & the demons within will not see me…

All that I am & all that you are is poetry

We are works of art for all to see

The way we move, the way our minds operate

What wonders we think of & create

God is the great creator, the one who designed us

How we wove us together, all the angels made such a fuss

How like He, we have been wonderfully…

Labels can be found on water bottles & soup cans

But all too often they are found on our fellow man

We have all been guilty of judging others

Though instead we should love our sisters & brothers

That girl in the colorful outfit dancing…

When I saw a certain black kitten, he ensnared my heart

I knew he was to be a part of our little family from the start

The name that I came up for him was one that I thought fits

Being such a black beauty, he deserved the name Onyx

Stunning, agile, full of energy, & often ready to pounce

Quite comical he can be…

Here is an ode to our three month old puppy

She is very playful & full of so much energy

Living with Bi-Polar disorder, well sometimes I am Ms. Hyde and sometimes I’m Dr. Jekyll, just depends on the day, sometimes the moment. Though before I begin, let me set the record straight

I’m not single, bitter, & jaded, though I once was

Happily taken am I, but my views on this day are ones I won’t recant

My view is and has always been this about love & devotion

We should show one another how…

When chaos surrounds my every moment

And I have been subjected to loss & torment

Thoughts & emotions flood my veins

There must be a way to express my anger, sorrow, & pain

That’s when I turn to a wondrous thing called music

It helps me tell my story, no matter whether I’m happy or heartsick

For years, I wandered through the ashes of my past

Dwelling on pain, guilt, & heartaches that I thought would forever last

“Will I ever be able to move on, from my yesterdays be set free?”

I cried out to anyone who was willing to hear me

Scattered memories lingered deep within my mind

I just couldn’t seem to find…

As the cold clings to my bones

Refusing to let its hold on me go

The sun shines, radiating off me a golden glow

Renewing within me a fierce hope

I have faced worse than this

And always have made it through

I know that there is joy in the days ahead

Realizing this, I no longer face this day with…

As the last light of the day fades away

I find my mind trying to lead me astray

My body is weary and ready for rest

But my thoughts try to take me on a most lengthy quest

Thus is the way it goes most every night

I fight dragons and demons with all my might

Just to try and get a little sleep
