I hate being grown up.
I wish to go back and be blissfully ignorant.

My little sister Melissa and I adore Bob Dylan. So, when we heard he was touring the country’s baseball parks our attendance was guaranteed. Dylan scheduled a show in Oklahoma City, and Willie Nelson was set to open for him.
We arrived at the venue early. Early enough to place our little blanket right smack in front of the stage. Unfortunately, we had grossly underestimated the enthusiasm of Willie’s Groupies. So, after being stepped on, elbowed and cursed at, we determined to…

So as many of you have read/heard, though some of you have not heard, I was recently in jail for an old unpaid OWI fine. Let me tell you, it was one heck of an experience. I learned A LOT while there. I also met some really cool people too. Though, I'd say that the overall experience was NOT a fun one. I was able to spend a lot of time thinking and able to put much into perspective. I realized more than ever just how much I took for granted before. I also got a lot closer to God. My…

Susan Herrick is a singer songwriter who has performed at Wiffledust, and someone I respect immensely. We were talking about the gulf this morning, and she spontaneously wrote this....I think it's brilliant and asked her if I could repost it. She said yes. Here it is:
doom plumes
still VAROOM
underneath the sea -
earth's womb
methane, carbons…

A burning, bright day retreated suddenly at the advance of a summer
squall in Nashville last Wednesday. Threatening skies churned out a
torrent of rain, pouring down in sheets on the downtown area. Outside
the Ryman Auditorium, an unsuspecting crowd scattered in all
directions, seeking shelter beneath the awning of a parking garage and
nearby buildings. For a brief moment, the streams washing down 4th
Avenue were…

For those of you who aren't aware, I am a romance novelist. A novel concept considering I've been out of the romance/relationship and particularly dating arena for quite a few years. My last first date was actually in 1992. So, after reviewing my first (yet to be published) novel I questioned its authenticity or realistic value. I sat my 25 year old daughter down for a few questions.
"Okay," I queried. "What's the rule for a call back after the…

'Starting School'
When I began the first grade mom would take me to Brooks Clothiers downtown to buy my t-shirts, underwear and my red label Farrah 'husky' jeans. Then off
to TG and Y next door to get pencils, my Big Chief tablet, and
crayolas. Oh and then around the corner…

Is God a living part of you,
Or are you a part of him?
Is he woven through creation,
Or on creation's rim?
Do you find God on Sunday,
Or the middle of the week?
Is the hand of God for strength,
Or only for the meek?
Do you hear God in written words,
Or in the bird's sweet song?
Do you feel his presence,
When choosing right from wrong?
