where creative minds can interact

'Untitled Observation' copyrioght 2010 by Rick Reiley

Written about no one in particular. If you know her send her a get well card....

The window to her soul

Was shuttered tight and barred

Windows can be dangerous things

What you see can leave you scarred

So she keeps the portals closed

The exits shut and sealed

Takes comfort in the knowing

Nothing ventured or revealed

She lives her life in solo

Dreams in black and white

Has a steaming cup of coffee

And bathes in darkened light

This will be her answer

She will hold it to her breast

Never risked a moment

Being cherished, loved or blessed

The pangs of human bondage

Never trapped her in its cords

She lived her life in freedom

Now she's reaping those rewards

Someone mentioned Eleanor Rigby. Could be she is perfectly happy all in her own particular atmosphere.

That is so hauntingly sad. Or, perhaps, it is a cautionary tale.

Freedom of this kind can certainly have its chains! I love your writing, Rick. I wish i'd discovered it earlier.
