This was actually written the week after I attended my favorite Aunts funeral in 2007.  It's the anniversary of her birth today and the anniversary of her death tomorrow.  She's sorely missed, so I'm posting this in her memory. 

Laughter through tears…

When I was a teenager.  While visiting my Grandfather in Louisiana, a friend…

Five o'clock seemed like an eternity.

Now traffic is at a snail’s pace.

Slowly the city is in the rear view.

The traffic becomes less and less.

Speed limit raises and I’m racing off.



Cares flying away like the wind from my car.…

One moment of 2012 that I will cherish and keep in my heart

Christmas with my son after missing five Christmas' apart.

One moment of 2012 I would like to forget

December 14th, Sandy Hook Elementary, a day of eternal regret.

Funny thing about memories of the heart

Some bring smiles while others hurt like a flaming dart.

As time and years pass by

Each is filled with reasons to laugh and cry.

Peace and love wished by us all

In Remembrance...



Ten years and the pain is still strong.

A lifetime will not erase the memories of those who are gone.

The images will forever be etched in our minds.

Amazing what hate can do to mankind.

Left to dwell we could all give in.

Focus on the anger but sin is sin.

Let us forgive but never forget.

Revenge is not sweet but fills with regret.

I had a dream my family was spread across land and sea

They were of every race and creed

Some as black as velvet night

Others as pale as the brightest sunlight

A vast bounty of mountains and terrain between

Still we can feel our hearts sight unseen

Providing care for the young and old

Giving food and shelter…

So many smiles on their faces

Not a word spoken of the dark places

Gathered quietly at the lost and found

Waiting patiently not making a sound

The train arrives and the doors open wide

Arms held out for the loved ones who've arrived

Tear stained faces show how much they were missed

Soldiers finally getting that…
