where creative minds can interact

So many smiles on their faces

Not a word spoken of the dark places

Gathered quietly at the lost and found

Waiting patiently not making a sound

The train arrives and the doors open wide

Arms held out for the loved ones who've arrived

Tear stained faces show how much they were missed

Soldiers finally getting that welcome home kiss

A lone soldier stands looking over the crowd

Such a solemn look till he hears her cry his name out loud

A path opens making way for the young lovers

They run unaware of all the others

Absence makes the heart grow fonder

Displays such as this leaves no reason to ponder

If one could harness the love in the scene

It would soften the heart of the meanest of the mean

The longing to hear the voice or see their face

Letters and cards could never replace

Missing their arms around them at night

Praying and hoping they survive the fight

No one is an island, they must not stand alone

It's hard to stay focused with loved ones at home

As we honor all of those that pay the price

Those that do what they do never thinking twice

There aren't words that can effectively display

All the love and remembrance on this Memorial Day
