Let Sleeping Icons Lie

I posted this as a poem and submitted it here on Wiffledust. I then decided to turn it into a song. It is not a finished product by a long shot, but I am doing this here as part of sharing my process.

Let Sleeping Icons Lie

1) Let sleeping Icons lie.

Don't even whisper past their grave

It’s the ugly truth you might awake

Though it stirs the memories you crave

For just a moment they seem real
But the patina has dulled their glow
It’s a heart of stone that you will feel

Hi Jodie Ann,

My songwriting for now has been motivated by www.FAWM.org. Writers from all over the world. Ckallenge is to write 14 songs in the month of Feb. Lots of suggestions, challenges, ideas, collaborations. At theginning I think I wdon't possibly have 14 songs in me. Others inspire me...and I just sit down and start writing about whatever is going on around me.

thanks so much for sharing this, sherry! i can't wait to read it in detail. i'm on a crazy deadline for something, so i can't delve into it at this moment, but i'll be back for sure!!! keep sharing, but above all keep up all this great writing!
