Time to Get Away
The sun beats down on my head
The sweltering heat makes it hard to breath
But the gentle breeze blows
Giving me random moments of relief
Cooling off my skin
Top down
Chevelle blaring
Headed to our secret place
To enjoy the summer's return
Just you and I
The trunk is packed
Food, plenty to drink
Bug spray, suits, sleeping bags
Enjoying nature
Getting away from it all for the weekend
Come Sunday, we'll return
Back to reality
Jobs and chores to tend to
Family and friends to spend time with
But not today
Today is for relaxation
Away from civilization
No t.v.s, computers, and the like
No one to bother us
So ready for this
I close my eyes
And lean back in my seat
Enjoying not driving
Smiling because the weekend is here
And you're right here with me
We're not going that far
But it feels like we're worlds away
And you know something
That's really okay
No, it's more than okay today
