'Home from the War'
copyright 2012 by Rick Reiley
Three months til Christmas
Then we'll see her again
If the war doesn't interfere
With her plans to fly in
But war keeps you guessing
You know what that means
Someimes it takes the wind out of
Our sweetest dreams
(Refrain)
'Jingle Bells' takes on a whole new meaning
It gives a whole new complexion to 'Silent Night'
When you're in the dark and wondering
If you'lll be among the lucky ones
On Christmas night
Two months til Christmas
We can hardly wait
So much joy to be heaped
On our Christmas plate
We want to hug her
When she walks through that door
When she finally makes it
Home from the war
(Refrain)
'Jingle Bells' takes on a whole new meaning
It gives a whole new complexion to 'Silent Night'
When you're in the dark and wondering
If you'lll be among the lucky ones
On Christmas night
One month til Christmas
We're on needles and pins
One week and counting
Til Christmas begins
Now here comes a knock
At our front door
Could she be early?
Or could it be news from the war...............
