where creative minds can interact

So, here I am back in the computer loop and able to communicate through the ether once more! I hope that everybody had a fantastic time with friends and family!  My holidays are usually spent in transit between families and this year was no different.  Kathy and I spent Christmas with my family and were able to stay for about 4 days with them. We had 4 of the 5 brothers and sisters there and talked relentlessly about our youngest brother who couldn't make it home.  Thus is it always with siblings it seems.  We didn't bad mouth him too terribly though.  My folks were tickled to have the 4 of us home and it was a lovely time had by all in Virginia  this year. Once we made it back to Wisconsin we spent a few days with Kathy's family as well. Again, a nice time!

My oldest niece(my brother Jerry's oldest daughter) is a very talented and aspiring photographer and I'm going to try to get her to join us here on Wiffledust.  If I'm lucky I'll be able to convince a couple of other folks to  come on board as well.  My other niece's boyfriend is quite a musician/singer/ songwriter and I think he would enjoy our little community here.  Time will tell as it always does.

My intent this year is to get my photography into a little higher gear and hopefully give it even more exposure in the virtual and physical world.  I intend to find a number of galleries in various locations across the country which will be willing to show some of my work.  This may prove difficult, but I will persist and hopefully will have my work shown in multiple locations during the course of the coming year.  If any of you have any thoughts on any given galleries or venues in your area that you'd care to share, please let me know.  My intent is to mail CDs containing watermarked examples of my work to many different galleries, but if anybody who enjoys my work has any contacts that they'd be willing to share with me, I'd be very obliged.  Doing it this way is kind of like cold-calling for a job interview or sales opportunity.  I'm not totally comfortable with the idea, but it has the chance of giving me some much needed exposure.  As we all know, competition in the field of photography is very fierce and I can only hope that my little bit of an unusual slant on many of my photographic categories will be enough to catch someone's eye.

It seems that I'll be trying to blog here a little more this year.  I've threatened this before, but I'm a little more commited to the idea now and I intend to finally make good on it.  I hope to hear from many of you and will do my level best to answer any replys, queries or ideas that you choose to leave here.  Here's hoping that we can all have an excellent, productive year and that we can all participate a little more in this wonderful World of Wiffledust!  Know that I appreciate any and all of the feedback that you all give me on my work and I have resolved to be more interactive with this wonderful community of folks.  Again, here's hoping!  Peace!

Thanks, Sheree!  I will try to investigate any and all possibilities.  I am attempting to become a possibilitarian.  I think I saw that on a post from Maryrose.  It's an old Norman Vincent Peale quote, I believe.  Anyway, I think my main difficulty will be the cost of producing my work in a matted and framed manner that can be easily and inexpensively shipped to any and all venues willing to display and/or sell it.  I'm still figuring it all out and intend to make it work.  Now, just WHERE did I put that bag of tricks?  ;-)

VERY happy to see that you are branching out with your work and I wish you the best of luck!!  I can't help with galleries, but the salon where I get my hair cut always allows artists to show work on their walls.  I'm not sure if they only work with local artists, but it can't hurt to try, right?
The salon is Willie and Coote and the owners are Karen and "T" (for Theresa).  Talk/correspond with Karen, she's the original owner and a very sweet person.  And feel free to tell her you got the lead from me.

Yay for feedback! I will attempt to challenge my poor, technophobic brain to remember how to post photos in my blog. Maybe it'll get easier? Hah! I really appreciate the interest in my work. I am determined to make a wider audience take interest. It WILL happen! ;-)

p.p.s.--so is Bob!!  Thank you for sharing your beautiful photographs!!  You inspire me to get out there!!  I wish you much luck in 2012 and will keep my ear to the ground if there is a place in the NJ/PA area you should look into!!  BTW--I think Lisa is awesome, too!!
