'Big Dreams'

I read a story the other day about a relatively large lady who has high hopes of being able to claim the Guinness world record title of the 'world's fattest woman'
in the near future. She weights 560 pounds now and hopes to weigh
1,000 pounds in the next couple of years.

The interview I saw didn't give much background information except to say that she is married, seems well adjusted and doesn't seem to suffer from any mental or
emotional anguish which is sometimes common for people who deviate so
widely from the 'norm'.

Of course even 'normal' people deviate widley from one another in emotional and mental stability so I guess that comment proves nothing at all.

She claims she's perfectly healthy. It costs her over $700 a week to maintain her current status. $700 just for food. She doesn't work, except at
eating, and accepts contributions from folks who want to help her
achieve her dream. Voyeurs who like to witness such things can log
into her website, pay an $11 fee and watch her at feeding times when
she devours burgers, chickens, pizza, pies, cakes and other such fare
on her quest to break the scales.

This is a wide open world we live in where one can dream big without having to adhere to mundane or common themes. Some dream of marriage and children, a
singing career, winning beauty contests or bowling a perfect game.
Others dream of being the fattest person in the world. And are able
to work towards that goal with nothing to stand in their way.

This lady is married. Her husband is skinny and will easily fit under her
arm. He says he's always liked women with big bellies and the bigger
his wife gets, the happier he is. He seems to be wildly in love and
eager for her to achieve her dream title.

So you see, when you feel down just remember...no dream is too weird and there is someone for each of us out there somewhere. We just have to keep a positive
attitude.
Pass the biscuits please. I've got some serious thinking to do.

It's her dream and her body. Free country. But I have to say, it makes me nauseous.

Seems like as good a goal as the next... whatever floats your boat, or hoists your sail, or somethin'. It's no crazier than climbing a mountain or jumping out of an airplane.

Everyone needs a dream but when someone starves themselves people step into help so I can't see how this any different. She is literally eating her way to death. She is a mother. Is she passing these eating habits on to her children? Is she literally taking food out of her child's mouth? Couldn't the money going towards her "dream" be put to better use? How about instead 700 bucks worth of junk she just put it towards a college fund.

Dreams are great to have, but I have no doubt that this woman will die before she realizes her dream. What an amazing miracle these bodies are that we are given. Hearts pumping gallons of blood, lungs bringing fresh air to our bodies, skin, kidneys, liver....a zillon different miracles happening in our bodies in perfect syncronicity at every moment of life. Seems disrespectful to abuse these beautiful creations so.

this woman's dream did not bother me at all except for the worry that she might die from it. but let's just take that out of the equation for a moment. other than that, i agree. everyone needs a dream. there are a million women trying to be the skinniest woman alive and people reward that!
