A Confused Gardener Contemplates Planting by the Phases of the Moon

New moon, dark moon,

will my plants

blossom & bloom

if planted in mid-June?

Slim chance

(good cowboy name),

all the same,

give it a try,

they'll live or they'll die.

~

First quarter moon,

end of June

(hum me a tune);

don't know much

about rhizomes & such,

when to put in seeds,

it's simpler to weed.

Toad flax takes over,

thistle & clover.

~

Full moon,

a yellow balloon

in early July;

I'll give it a try

& hope for the best,

leave the rest

up to fate

at a later date.

What should I grow?

Don't quite know.

~

Last quarter moon,

a deflated balloon,

high in the sky

in mid-July.

If I fail

there'll be naught for snails;

but if shoots arrive...

a pleasant surprise!

There'll be blossoms & blooms

by the light of the moon.

... no matter... something will bloom...regardless, whether it's literal or not... may it truly surprise you and bring you some clarity.
