where creative minds can interact
summer mourner
autumn audaciously sachets its big rustley skirts of leafdom all around my home
in september the rehearsals begin
in october the orchestra files in
then suddenly the daylight dims
and the leafy chorus girls begin their can can in the wind
i prefer the corner window seat for this show
where i tuck my legs up under me just so
i can lean to the right and free my left hand
with which i color and scribble while the trees wiggle to the band
and the leafy chorus girls do that fan fan can can
in the rustley bustley heaps of colors
of burnt siennas and of fried zucchinis
just for me to watch from the side of my knees
in the corner
where i color and scribble
with two fingers crossed behind my middle about being a summer mourner

awe... I too love fall, such a time of beauty. I equate "mourner" to sadness....thanks for your clarification of your poem. LOL

thanks so much, you guys. i wasn't thinking sadness. i love the autumn. i have always felt pressure to love summer, when i actually love fall much more, ..hence the fingers crossed.

even though the title suggests mourning, there is life in this poetry... this piece feels pretty to me... reminds me of the feelings of sadness AND gladness

Very nice. I know this feeling. Melancholy is how I get. Wanting to go home when I'm home. Trying not to be sad. It has been a beautiful Autumn here. I'm not ready for winter, but are we ever.
