hey robin. answers to creative writing challenges need to go in your blog space. this is the second time this happened today, so i need to make that more obvious here somewhere. not your fault! can you cut and past into your blog space, say in the title that it's a response to the challenge, and add a pic if you can? thanks! sorry for not being clearer, and thanks for the entry! xoxo

My absolute favorite dessert is a raisin-nut pie that my mother used to make and now my son makes for family holiday dinners (all two of them). It's made with raisins, walnuts, Karo syrup and I don't know what else, other than it gives me 10 lbs. and 2 cavities per slice. The reason I love it so much goes back to my 7th birthday. My mother made me a gorgeous cake, a white cat sleeping on a pink pillow. My birthday falls around Thanksgiving so I had to take my cake up to my grandmother's and there were so many people that I never got one bite of this gorgeous cake. I was heartbroken. So my mother started making the raisin-nut pie for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and only she, one uncle & I were allowed to have any. Every bite brings back memories of my mother, and how much I miss her.

begin to develop a character. we're looking for 2-3 paragraphs simply describing someone you create. what's their age? their attitude? hair color? education? in other words, in the most interesting way you can to capture the reader's attention, help us get to know your character.
