where creative minds can interact

Sleep is when your body has said, "Listen, I have had it! I am done working for you today. You're such a slave driver sometimes, geesh. Your legs say, "I stand and walk around all day, keep you moving when all I want to do is sit. And how do you repay me?" Your knees complain about wanting to buckle. Your hands say they're going to go on strike. Like right now, while my hands are typing this; they're silently seething and thinking, "Woman, give us a break. Do you have any idea much strain you put on us?" Your neck constantly screams for a break from supporting this bowling ball of a thing you call a head. All day long, your body is screaming, "HELP! You get a 15 minute break at work, but where is ours? Even on break, you're talking on the phone, eating, etc. We want a break too!" So, after all day long of your body yearning for it's much needed break; you decide to cave into your body's demands. And, now for a few hours during the night; your body is grateful and quiet. This is what sleep is to your body.

To your mind however, sleep is something completely different. While your body finally gets a much needed break, your mind is still on the job. Your mind is how a parent feels, its job is never done. Though there are times when your mind seems to be quiet, it isn't. Even in sleep, your mind is working hard. Your brain needs to keep working or you die. So, be grateful to that mind of yours or it might just shut down ahead of schedule. In sleep, your mind not only keeps your vitals functioning, but it also allows you to continue to think. Whether conscious or subconscious, your brain is constantly thinking. When your body is asleep, your minds thoughts are called dreams. Some seep through to our waking minds and some do not. However, all dreams are a portal into our soul. Sometimes we dream about what we'd like to accomplish. Other times, the dreams don't seem to make any sense at all. Some dreams are simply frightening. Some are about happy memories from our past. But whatever you dream about, it is a part of who you are in one way or another. Your dreams sometimes delve into parts of yourself you'd otherwise ignore. When asleep, your mind becomes brave and seeks out answers, seeks passion, seeks revenge, seeks truth, seeks love....it's seeking, it's thinking, it's pondering, forever curious. What do you dream about? How different are your waking thoughts from your sleeping ones? With the ones you remember, take time to analyze them, you may just find out some interesting things about yourself, not always pleasant....but definitely amazing.

So tonight when your body protests and your mind seeks to be adventurous in new ways, give in and sleep. It's good for your body, mind, and soul. Just remember, be kind to yourself; you're the only you that you have. :)

Love the comparison of the mind being like a parent. No truer words have ever been spoken.

So true, our minds can't shut off...even when we think they're asleep. If they fall down "on the job" so to speak, where would we be? :P Thanks for the comment hun!

lovely! i like the way you talk about our mind always being on the job. this morning i was SOUND asleep. i mean like drooling asleep. but the doorbell rang, and BOOM i was standing and heading towards it before i even knew my name. our minds ARE always on it. you're the only you that you have. love that!
