For My Son

When your eyes light up that way

I can tell you're excited

Your face is animated

And your words come out in a rush

The joy in your voice makes me smile

It's moments like these that I love

I'm quietly read and relaxing on the couch

You're upstairs playing in a world of make believe

But somehow, you appear out of thin air

You give me a hug and tell me that you love me

Then scamper back up the stairs to play

It's moments like these that I love

The stars are out, it's time for them to play

For you, it's time for bed

Brushed teeth and all jammied up

You hop into bed

We snuggle up and read a story together

It's moments like these that I love

Sometimes we fight

And I get so mad

But at the end of the day

These facts remain the same

You're my son and I love you now & forever

And even after forever ends

As long as tomorrow comes for you and me

I'll be happier than I have a right to be

And I'll cherish you and every moment we have

I'm blessed to have you in my life

I thank God everyday for you

And for all the special moments with you that I love
