When love takes flight

Where are you?

Are you watching it fly away?

Sighing that regretful sigh

Because you let it get away

 

Did you hold on too tightly?

Were you trying to keep it in a mason jar?

Thinking if you hold on for dear life

That it'd never leave

Feeling smothered, it ran for dear life

 

Did you push it away?

Did you build up a wall to keep it out?

Perhaps the past got the best of you

So now you're trying to avoid being hurt again

Feeling unwanted, it walked away

 

Or are you soaring along with it?

Side by side, together

Connected, as one

Have you finally found the joy in your lover's eyes?

Feeling complete, it's with you wherever you go

 

Love can be a splendid thing

For those lucky enough to find it

And be able to hold onto it

Not too tightly

But enough to know it's wanted and appreciated

 

Finding balance can be tricky

In anything

Not just love

But life

Each day is a struggle to maintain order and balance

 

Where are you?

Do you lean too heavily on one side

Or perhaps the other most days?

Are you constantly teetering

Wondering where you'll land each day?

 

I constantly find myself looking this way and that

Wondering each day where I will end up

Where will my choices take me?

I struggle to find balance

But, at least I am here to do just that

 

Trial & error

That is what life is

Some days we win

And some days we lose

But each day, we're presented with a path

 

Which one will we take?

Which one should I follow?

Lead me and I will go

I will make mistakes till the day I die

I just hope that I learn from them

 

Love leads me through

The love from my son

From my family and my friends

And the love of my God

Love I hope to never lose

 

I hope I don't push too hard

In either direction

Don't run away because I was too needy

And don't walk away because I was too aloof

I hope that I can maintain that healthy balance

 

Each day

New choices

New goals

New mistakes

New experiences

 

Filled with joy

Frustration

Love

Anger

Sorrow

 

How will you deal with each experience?

How will I?

Only time will tell

And I hope that at the end of each day

That we have been able to live our lives well.
