I see dead people

OK, here is one of the many spirit stories that make up the tapestry of my life. This is the real deal, no artistic license here.

One night I was staying at my in-laws house with the family. I wasn't feeling well so I decided to sleep in my wife's old bedroom in the basement, so I didn't pass on any nasty germs to anyone. It's a mostly unfinished basement; there's a "bedroom" which was an old workshop, a bathroom, a workshop, and a lot of storage. There's are 2 doors to the basement, one from upstairs and one that goes out to the garage.

So I go down and get as comfy as I can in bed. I'm laying there trying to get to sleep and all of a sudden I hear some shuffling sounds. I think to myself it was probably just my imagination and dismiss it. Then, shortly after that I hear a man cough. I think, ok..maybe it was my brother-in-law coming in through the basement door. It wouldn't have been likely but it would have been possible. After waiting for more noise I finally start to wonder if someone has broken into the house. The stairs to get upstairs are right outside the bedroom door so I make a mad dash upstairs. After we investigate and figure out nobody is there, I go back down to try to sleep again. I am laying there, everything is quiet, and all of a sudden the bed starts to shake. At first it was just a little and it stopped. I tried to dismiss it but then it started to shake again. Not violently, but enough to know that it was not my imagination. It stopped briefly then started up again. At that point I grabbed my pillow and blanket and slept on the floor upstairs. There was no way I was staying down there alone that night.

There were a lot of experiences by others in that house. People would hear the trash can lid bang when no one was in the kitchen, and people would hear the front door open and close but no one was using it. The door was just around the corner from the living room so you would always hear it before you saw anyone. But many times there wasn't anyone there.

In one place where I lived I was in bed one night watching TV. My wife and kids were asleep. All of a sudden I heard a fan turn on in the bathroom. I assumed one of the kids got up to use the bathroom and flipped the wrong switch. After a minute I decided to get up to see what was going on because I could tell that the light wasn't on. Their bedroom was across from their bathroom just down the hall, and we had a bathroom in our bedroom. As I got out of bed and started to go to check it out I passed our bathroom. That's when I realized that the fan was on in our bathroom, not theirs. There was no way that they would have been able to get in there and turn it on without me seeing it. The switch wasn't one that was easy to flip either and it wasn't one that would rest halfway between on and off. It was one way or the other. So someone or something turned on the fan, and it wasn't anyone who was alive.

I've had several other experiences as well. I think that I either attract spirits or I have one (or some) following me.
