where creative minds can interact
Yesterday I watched Weatherman Jim Kosek in Baltimore:
Here was his rant:
Oh boy
14 to 22 inches of snow
Oh boy
Paralyzing, crippling, record breaking snow
Road closures, power outages, black ice ,flight cancellations
He had a meltdown( of course the snow didn't melt :-)
So as a cathartic exercise in my Febrruary writing project, I wrote this son/poem about how snow predictions have changed
Blowing and Drifting
Blowing and drifting
Drifting and blowing
The white stuff is falling
Yes, it is snowing
When I was a young girl
And heard it would snow
I put my sled by the front door
But the flakes didn’t show
The weatherman told us
And I had prayed he was right
I had visions of snowflakes
Hoped they’d pile up that night
I threw open the curtains to see the snow
But there was nary a flurry
Seems the major storm passed us by
With a frown, off to school in a hurry
Blowing and drifting
Drifting and blowing
The white stuff is falling
Yes, it is snowing
When I got started skiing
I prayed for a storm
I envisioned a ski lodge
All toasty and warm
I looked out the window
Called the weatherman a jerk
There would be no snow day
So I went off to work
Blowing and drifting
Drifting and blowing
The white stuff is falling
Yes, it is snowing
Now they predict accurately
When and where snow will land
18 to 22 inches they say,
A blizzard warning is at hand
I shovel on Sunday, but more falls on Monday
When will this misery end?
We get a break for a day or two
Then the snow starts falling again
Blowing and drifting
Drifting and blowing
The white stuff is falling
Yes, it is snowing…..again
