where creative minds can interact
Chestnut curls and a cute button nose
Just like hers
Brilliant hazel eyes and dimples
Just like yours
I can hear her angelic voice
She puts her tiny hand in mine
Smiles and my heart melts
"Grandma", she squeals in delight
There's nothing I wouldn't do for her
Just as I feel the same about you
She sits in my lap
And I read her her favorite story
I remember when you were this small
Bright blond hair
Tiny hands that grasped mine
My lap was once your favorite spot to sit
Now here you are
All grown up
And here she is
With the same twinkle that's in your eyes
A future unwritten
For you're still but a young boy
But growing so fast
Needing me less and less
I picture you grown up
In college
With a career
A home and family of your own
I see her sweet little face
She yells, "Daddy!" as you come to pick her up
Such pride in your eyes as you hold her
And pride in mine as I watch you both
I have such dreams for you
Though it's your dreams that matter
Follow your heart
Let it lead you down the paths you're to take
No matter where you go
And no matter what you do
I want you to know
I'll always be proud of you
Though your future is uncertain
And my dreams may not match what will be
I have faith your future will be bright
And you will still be my everlasting light
