The lines are so sharp even light on light which defining the shadows even more. Adams and O'Keefe are Giants yes, but any good photographer can appreciate a good eye and another perspective. You've captured it very well and the lighting, time of day, is spot on.
and i'm so glad you did....i think many subjects in art, music, writing, etc are not approached due to artists feeling that a great has already tackled the subject. but this is always a mistake, because even the greatest artists do not have one particular thing....someone else's perspective!
This church has such lovely lines and its adobe walls have incredible texture. In late afternoon and early evening, the shadows are quite beguiling. However, it's intimidating to photograph (although on any day, you will see lots of folks with cameras) because of the beautiful and famous photographs and paintings made of it by Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keefe (the "giants" in the title). Everything feels derivative or not up to standard but I can't resist photographing it and trying for my own interpretation or even something derivative that is a proper homage to Adams and O'Keefe.
very forceful in this photograph, maggie! stark shadowy against a bright sky. simple and complex. lovely!
