How wonderful that both the photo and the history were captured :-)

Thank you so much, John!  And Kristin, I did look up the history on these barns.  This was a hard-scrabble working farm back in the 1930's.  The cabin that appears in another photo was moved to this farm setting some years back after it was abandoned.  Apparently the cabin had been inhabited by a man and his sons who worked at a lumberyard across the mountain from their homestead.  They climbed it every day to go to work!

Great composition Maggie! I love the quality of the light behind the trees.

Thank you Lisa, Steen, and Anthony!  Toby, I consider that quite a compliment.  The late Denis Dutton claims that calendar art reflects archetypal landscapes that have been meaningful to human civilization over millenia!  I'm sincerely glad that it resonates for you as it does for me (enough so that I jumped out of a perfectly warm vehicle as the temperature dropped below freezing to photograph it)!

Just gorgeous. Should adorn a calendar.

Yes it is digital.  It has not been enhanced.  The photo was taken as the sun was setting in the mountains and casting a glow on the bare trees.

this is one of my faves, maggie. the subject is precious, and the fuzzy texture of the trees and wood amid the sun....it's just great!
