Volcanoes? another WOW for me! When studying geography never once was there a mention of volcanoes in Scotland! thanks for the great information and now, I can create a new image of Scotland for my mind's eye :-)

Scotland has huge mountains due to all the dormant volcanoes. I have pictures from my visit in 2010 that really show the mountains off. There is nothing flat in Scotland, while there you are either constantly walking up or down at a steep incline. I wasn't aware of it either until the first time I went. My calves were so sore :)

How ignorant am I? I did not know there were mountains in Scotland! For some reason my mind's eye held a vision of rolling hills and flat lands
