I always want to photograph stairways like this!  They are so intriguing and you have succeeded in capturing that better than I ever have.  I think MaryRose is right about that bit of light at the top.  It really draws your eye up the stairs.

Thanks MaryRose. It is deceptively narrow. I couldn't imagine grown men darting up there in a hurry without also picturing Archie Bunker trying to squeeze through a doorway with Meathead. lol
