I met David through my singer/songwriter nephew.  He is an amazing talent and has recently made a movie "Between Notes" that is moving through the independent film festival circuit.  If you get a chance to see it, do!!  It was filmed here in Dallas and I'm hoping it does well so I can see it on the "big screen" some day real soon!!

David Ramirez - Argue With Heaven from the independent film "Betwee...

  • Sheree

I wondered how y'all were doing that!!  And David is my nephew's friend.  I don't think I was real clear on that one.  Let's see if I can do it properly...

Listening to "Lost and Found" by Kate MacLeod and Kat Eggleston; both acclaimed singer songwriters in their own right, they occasionally team up for a stunning duo performance. I've had this in the player since last Sunday, nonstop. I'll have to look and see if there's video.
  • wiffledust

oooo love these suggestions. i'm listening to robert plant and alison krause. i was the only person in america who didn't get a chance to listen the first time around!

  • wiffledust

oh thanks for telling me that! i didn't know. i'm hoping there might be soon
  • Carla "harpy" Eskelsen

I hope that doesn't stop people from checking out the two performances; they're both songs from the new album. Life is sure better for me when I have Kate MacLeod's music on.
  • wiffledust

Yesterday, I FINALLY got around to buying Paul Simon's latest album, So Beautiful or So What. I've only listened to it once through, so I'm not commenting yet, but this guy is obviously a musical genius. He really is.
  • Helen

This one is by James Morrison - better known as an actor (not the younger British musician). You may know him best as Bill Buchanan in 24. He also writes and plays his own music, which I've only just listened to for the first time today. This one is great. I could only find this fan made video, but it serves the purpose:

  • Mary Alice Guest Cafiero

Well, we are considering the rapture for tomorrow, so I'm thinking REM It's the End of the World As we know it.

i'm seeing some excellent choices here!!! thanks for them!
  • Carla "harpy" Eskelsen

Jen is sposed to be here right now at the songwriters circle... she may have had too much to do with the raptor enclosure. Hope she shows; she is fabulous!
  • Carla "harpy" Eskelsen

Ahhh... Jen showed up moments after I posted. What a great song circle tonight. Dave & I played quite of few of ours and one of Eric Taylor's. Jen & I each played a new one, just for kicks. BTW, if you haven't heard Eric Taylor, you'd best do somethin about it. Formerly married to Nanci Griffith, he's one of her inspirations, and she described him accurately as the Somerset Maugham of songwriters. He's top of the heap. Alltime.
  • Carla "harpy" Eskelsen

Here's the only decent example I could find of Eric on YouTube. His live Kerrville album is one of the most powerful collection of songs of all time.

listening to a little sweet talk radio....nice sound they have
  • Matthew Kahler

well, sitting at the kitchen counter top, with laptop, and a poptop, and got the pandora set to kinda of a seventies mix or something. i know i am an older man now, but honestly, that era was chock full of melody and optimism in the music. so nice...
  • wiffledust

melody! YES! whatever happened to THAT? seems like singing in a monotone flat tone is awfully popular right now. even the cheezy stuff in the 70's had good melody. at least A melody. i like stuff from the 40's for that reason too. melody. i'm trying to think of my fave melodies from the 70's and can't right now...i'll be back on this...

  • wiffledust

i'm back. :-) i'm watching cbs sunday morning. they have jimmy webb on discussing his huge library of fabulous 70's songs. a couple of years earlier he did "up up and away" which is one of my melody faves from then. i'm revealing my corny side, but "raindrops keep falling on my head" is a 70's song that i love to hear..."snowbird" that anne murray did. and how about "little green apples"?  ok, maybe i'm a geek, but i like these melodies.
  • Matthew Kahler

damn! really disappointed with myself that I missed the jimmy Webb feature. I gotta see it. CBS is likely to post on 'Sunday morning site. thanks Lisa for pointing it out, I would not have known, as today I was not paying attention. gonna go check now.

    mornin' all, mk
