i remember clothes being more of a quality item than now, and much more expensive. we went on "outings" to buy coats, for example. or to a special store to buy shoes. there was nothing like payless or tj maxx. the clothes were made in america or europe, and they were pricier too.

I remember when gas was under $1 per gallon... heck I remember being old enough to drive and getting a whole tank for $10 or less.

On this steamy day,I'm reminded of my parents sleeping outdoors with their feet in those blow up wading pools. The neighbors were out there, too.

No kids allowed.Remember when your folks did little things for themselves?

And you saw that it was good.

...being in my sixth grade class and hearing that the President (Kennedy) had been shot in the temple... and, being as I was Jewish and I knew the President wasn't, I wondered what he was doing in a temple.

...Pumping gas at my father's station in Glen Cove Long Island for less than thirty cents a gallon.

...being there to pump gas before self-service gas stations.

...selling coffee to people waiting in gas lines in the '70s.

I'm old enough to remember color TV being a big deal. Seeing the Witch's face from The Wizard of Oz in GREEN on the big tv was so exciting!
