On this the day of rest

Our love for You is put to the test

Will we rise ready to praise your name?

Or will sleeping in and ignoring You be our game?

Yes, it is true that every single day we should adore You

Not just on the Sabbath should we sing your praises, this is so true

But, it is on this day when we’re called to gather in Your house

To be loud & bold in our love for You, not to be as quiet as a mouse

Oh Lord, I thank thee each and every day for all You have given me

For richly blessing me with wonderful friends and a loving family

And most of all, for loving me though you know me oh so well

So much so that you made a way for me to escape the pains of hell

Thank You for the gifts that You’ve given me, like a mind that’s creative

May I use each one to show Your greatness in the life You’ve given me to live

No matter where I am, may my love for You shine ever so bright

I want all who see me to see You in my eyes, to see within me Your great light
