where creative minds can interact
I didn't attend my parents' wedding, but the stories are too fun not to share!
First - the dress. Every woman has their perfect dress in mind. It's beautiful, fits perfectly, and usually costs a fortune. My mom was a size 0, and assumed it would be easy to find the perfect gown.
... Not so much. The only dress she could find to fit well came from a Sears catalog. Seriously.
My mom loves lace. So she got a wedding dress with lace on it.
... Only to find out on the big day that she was allergic to lace. Seriously.
Now let's move on to the groom for a moment. My dad had polio as a child and suffered a back injury in his twenties that caused nerve damage and pain. Standing was uncomfortable for him, so he was given medication.
... The medication was so potent my uncle had to strategically place himself behind my dad in case he fell backwards during the ceremony. Seriously.
They had a Catholic wedding. During the ceremony they were to light a single candle together and snuff their individual candles (or something like that).
... They were so nervous they both dropped their snuffers. Seriously.
After the ceremony, man and wife began walking up the aisle.
... My dad's sister began a sing-a-long with their other two brothers of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust." Seriously.
And to wrap it all up? A few years down the road, my dad accidentally taped over the video with a Braves game. Seriously.
.. Hey, they made it to the World Series! It was important! ;)

we just learned that our Bob Meyer got married!!!
Today is my parents' anniversary and I shared this with my mom. This is what she had to say:
"Haha, too funny. You forgot to mention that my cousin got lost on the way to the rehearsal dinner with my flowergirl & didn't make it. I asked Grandma to sign an affidavit that dad hadn't been married before & she was FURIOUS. I actually got the dress from a JC Penney catalog. AND I almost set my veil onfire lighting the unity candle. I insisted it covered my face until we were announced husband & wife. AND most importantly, I removed OBEY from our vows lol. You should do the same, haha!"
