where creative minds can interact
I put my heart in a cardboard box
and taped it all around.
Put that sucker on the back of my bike
and took a ride downtown.
I stopped in at the pawn shop
to see how much I could get
But they said that they weren't ready
to take in used-up organs yet.
I rode on down to the second-hand store
to show it to Guinevere.
she said, "It looks like a real kind heart.
Sure, you can leave it here.
I know some folks who just might need
a slightly damaged heart.
I'll mend it with some super glue.
It must have fallen apart."
Guinevere shined up that heart
and set it on a velvet chair
right up front by the display case.
How strange to see it there!
I spent the night so empty.
No heart to break or melt...
I'd be able to tell you what it was like,
if I could have only felt.
Early next morning, I jumped on my bike
and raced back to that store.
I was screaming "GUINEVERE!"
as I burst through the front door.
"I need that heart back right away.
I've made a huge mistake!"
She said, "I thought you might've.
Now, relax, for goodness sake."
She boxed my heart up lovingly
and returned it with a grin.
and said "Promise me you'll never,
ever let it go so fast again."
