Phases by Lillian Gaffney

In life we go through many stages and phases. It is good to take time out of your daily routine to do things that you would not normally do.
It has been my routine in life to be neat and orderly. To tie things up
in compartments, organize, put things away, make the bed everyday, or
have dinner at the exact time. That is partly because I like it that way
and partly out of habit. Is it a good or bad way of being in the world?
Who cares! The important thing is that we love what we are doing,
regardless of what we read, hear, or think about how life is suppose to
be.

I noticed lately, I feel a sense of freedom around letting go of the need to be a certain way. It appears to me that some other part of me is longing to express another part of self. I
don't write on this blog about me for any other reason then to share
with you an openness in the hopes of connecting with you. And in the
hopes of inspiring you. To share my most vulnerable-self, my true honest
self has always been a challenge. Just like you, I have fears and I
have allowed those fears at times to over rule my most loving-self. I
try not to sensor what I write when I write because I want to allow
spirit to move through me.

I love to write and most recently I've been getting back into drawing which I find helps us to go even deeper. The last two drawings were obvious to me, picture wise.
However, I chose to process on a deeper level by not thinking about the
obvious. The example here to the naked eye is a drawing of circles. On
an emotional level, I saw the picture differently. I saw fun, play... I
then saw bubbles, hence the title. Once I discovered the title, I wrote
out what was bubbling right below the surface. This is what the writing
is all about for me... going deeper, going below and bringing forth what
is simply waiting for me. To elicit the unconscious, to become even
more creative. To allow what is bubbling right below the surface to
rise.

Bubbles

Each time we do this, we can bring forth another part of ourselves. Each time we dare to explore, to play, to have fun and lighten up we are
revealed that exciting part of ourselves. Things are seldom as they
appear. To consciously look at our lives in an open exploring way is
so creative. Be open to the adventure. See where it takes us. My most
recent drawing was of a vase, with an angel on it. Upon drawing the
vase, I envisioned expansion to the next page on my journal. Hence came
the flowers in bloom. Life is like that drawing, when we start, we may
not always know at the time where that expansion may take us, and what
we may receive as a result. The title was again obvious, VASE. However, I
chose to go deeper and deeper which took me to PHASE. I dare not
question for I may nix what is coming through. The phase is transpiring
as we speak. The phase of moving out of the orderly, has to make sense,
be organized, detailed, the whole nine yards, no longer has to be. That
controlled way of being... do it "right". HUH! This is what is right,
for me.

Expansion
Phase

So, my purpose for writing this is to show you that you never know where your process will take you if you just let go. Have fun! Let go of
the need to know it really does not matter. What matters most is that
your having fun. Do YOU need or want to follow my format, my way, my
thoughts... only you can decide what works and doesn't work for you. I'm
not trying to convince you one way or another. I'm simply sharing my
process. Do what you love! Do what works for YOU! This is one of the
greatest values of journaling, to tap into the power of the unconscious
and eliciting our creative ability.
