Well done Rick! An excellent guess. It is Tom Waits. I don't know if it's really fair to say that he's my favorite but I sure do like him a lot!

Six? Oh no! I did consider using a semi-colon at one point but decided that wasn't fair so restructured the piece to be only three sentences with commas to denote pauses but not complete new thoughts. Fair?
I'd love to tell you who it is but I'll wait to see if anyone knows. I read it to a friend who knew right away but he and I both share the same enthusiasm for the artist.
