In Faith Divided, But In Love United

My heart tells me this

That God truly exists

His love is real, powerful, & everlasting

Because of what He’s done, I shall not feel death’s sting

But there’s something I must confess

Understand this, it doesn’t make me love Him less

God wasn’t fabricated

But religion itself was indeed created

People claim their higher power is the one

The one we should all follow when all is said and done

And then the name calling begins

When we can’t agree on who’s religion “wins”

How I wish we could co-exist

I think the whole point of religion has been missed

We don’t have to agree with one another to get along

Fighting & letting hate win in the name of religion seems so wrong

There are many that I love who don’t share in my beliefs

But we choose not to cause one another grief

We may not all agree that there is a God up above

But we’re still bound by blood and by love

This is my wish for the entire human race

That we learn to give one another more mercy & grace

The way things are now brings sadness to my heart

Because hate tears this world apart

But I refuse to give up hope

For the language of love is still alive, so I will not mope

I will continue to offer peace to those I meet

And hate shall know defeat
