They definitely need their space.  I have always hear they could be hosile, but as I said, I have never witnessed it in my back yard, thankfully :-)

Great close up. Blue Jays are opportunist. My mother was the "bird lady" a long time ago and took in injured birds. She took in a Jay who then proceeded to eat her baby canaries. She then learned to keep any Jays in the future separate from baby birds.

I heard that too, but I have never seen a mean one yet.  But I put the bird food all along my railing and there is plenty of room for all the birds, so there's not need to fight for it.  I suppose if it was only in the birdfeeder they might dominate the others.

throught the window??? it's awesome. are blue jays really mean? i hate thinking that, because they're just so pretty.
