Thanks for both of your comments! I really appreciate feedback and advice, so it means a lot that you take the time to say something about my photos.

 

The texture on this one was fantastic in person, and I was lucky that the sun was shining in such a way that I could capture some of the texture.

 

Lisa - I think texture is so important in photos. For me, photos that can either breathe some kind of emotion or mood, or photos that are so textured you think you can feel what's in it, really jump out at me as being something special. Creating something 'other' from a bunch of 2 dimensional shapes and colours is what I love and appreciate.

i agree, bob. i'm learning sooo much about photography from you guys. texture seems to make  HUGE difference in a great photograph. this one is particularly fabulous!
