oh wow. amazing that you even though to use all of those ideas! i just shared your tulip this morning on facebook...folks liked it! and i just put this one up. this one looks so much like a painting. great work!

This is done by taking multiple shots of the same scene — at least one underexposure, one overexposure, and one correct exposure. Then I use a program called Photomatix to digitally layer them and tone map the colors.
