Yeah, the steel buildings will only get uglier with time and, like much of our more modern architecture, will be ready to be bulldozed in another 20 years.  *sigh*

Lisa, I have the same problem with my monitor.  I am often very surprised by what I can see after a simple swab job of the screen ;-)

You're so right about the craftsmanship dying right along with the structures!!  I follow a writer from upstate New York (Jon Katz) who takes some lovely photos of the barns and farms in his area.  He recently commented that the farmers just don't have the money to save the old structures so they let them go.

Unfortunately most of the farms around here went to steel buildings a long time ago, as did my inlaws on our place up in Ohio.  Ugly things.  Remind me of trailer houses...

Wow, Gini!  That's quite the eye you've got there!  I didn't think anybody but me saw that!  It's funny how different aspects of a photo jump out at different people.  Sheree, I try to photograph every old barn that I can, because they're ALL melting away.  All too often, especially in the northern tier states, the older barns sustain a little bit of structural damage, develop a sag and in comes a heavy snowstorm and that's all she wrote.  It's sad and I don't think the know-how of maintaining these structures is surviving the passing of the older generations of farmers.  Too often I see an ugly steel structure erected right next to the collapsed remains of a barn that stood there for a hundred years.

Yeah, definitely got subject envy now!!  Love this barn, love how you're telling it's story!!

Love the golds and reds, the bird nest on the vent duct and the illusion of someone standing in the lower right window.
