so true, dave! we stomp around dividing up the globe, declaring territories as if we really own anything!

There's something fascinating about the idea of this invisible line separating two states. The weeds and wild flowers don't care about the line. The farmer's beans soak up the sun whether on the Ohio side or the Michigan side. So many of the dividing lines we draw are petty and inconsequential in light of the real business of living.
