Smaller size can often make any creature over-compensate.  I know a few little dogs that think they're about the size of a Great Dane.

I did. I had some very funny funky ducks. One of my little female Mallards was much smaller than usual and had a bully attitude. She was ruler/queen/dictator-ess of the swimming pool!
