Toby, Thank you for your insight!  That is exactly what I strive for in my abstract photography.  Much of what I shoot is completely mundane, everyday portions of the world around me. I love to find the mysterious in the commonplace and make the viewer really think about what they think they're looking at.  I like to tell people that I can find photography ANYWHERE.  If you don't care for abstraction, then most of my work, what I really like, is probably not your cup of tea.

Maryrose, texture is very important to my compositions and color, while not an absolute necessity, is a catylyst in most of my shots. Sometimes an absence of color makes a piece that much more appealing while in other cases it's necessary to enhance certain aspects of an otherwise ordinary photograph.

The light, texture, and color create a surreal, beautiful photo!

You stir up a sense of mystery which is, for the most part, unexpected in traditional photography. Many of your images are like abstract paintings, which is like working in multiple mediums while actually using only one. That's what I call versatile. I would be curious what the images are in truth but -- as I would regard an abstract painting -- don't necessarily need to know.

That sounds like a time that neither you or the security guard will forget.  This shot is actualy from my back yard.  As surreal as it seems, it is only shadows on a wall.  I used to think that I shouldn't tell folks about the composition of my artwork, but for those that can and will appreciate it, I no longer hesitate to tell them how I came to the photograph in question.  This one is a westering sun shining through the trees in my backyard with the shadow of a tiki torch beside them.  It struck me as a very surreal brooding, cloaked figure.  It's a little dark, but I shoot what I find.

Wow, what is this I'm seeing? Very spooky and atmospheric! On the topic of cemeteries I have to recall the time, as a teenager, a friend and I went to one all dressed in flowing and billowy frocks for a photography class. We wanted to look like ghosts. Well, the camera did not work and we got no pictures but we did scare a graveyard security guard half to death!
