They are extremely intelligent beings.  I love dogs, but I think horses are much more intelligent.

oh that's so cool! what's with horses that they seem to understand humans talking to them almost more than any other species? in some ways more than dogs....what's up with that?

They are!  I've had horses in my life for as long as I can remember.  They are so very intelligent and fun-loving!  I once found myself having to deal with an entire herd of Percherons while teaching in a field school.  They could easily have stomped on me or any of the students, but they're such gentle, majestic, intelligent creatures that I was able to push them away from the more fearful folks and convince them to not step into our workspace by simply talking to them and leading them to a different location.  I will always treasure that experience.

i was not raised around horses, and so they are very mysterious to me.  my mother was raised on a farm and loved them. to me, they are HUGE. and i have never understood why they obey humans the way they do. i've been told they think they are smaller than they are...to me, they are such majestic creatures!

Everybody should be blessed with a horse or two in their lives.  Amazing creatures all!
