Thanks, Tom! I've been searching for that damn money tree for far too long now! At this point I'd settle for just a bush! :-)
Couldn't find a money tree? That's OK, this makes a better shot anyway :)
Exactly, Maryrose! I hope it made you smile!
And we like you that way just fine, Lisa! ;-)
i was just saying to carol on fb that it's weird that i barely noticed the kite. it could be that i'm visually challenged....?....but so much else struck me first. to me the photograph isn't about the kite. but i can see how it would be for everyone else. i guess i'm strange.
I'm pleased with both of your responses to this shot. I always tell people that they need to be fans of Charles Schultz to really appreciate this photograph. It was shot in a local park here in Milwaukee and there seems to always be a kite stuck in one of the trees there. Charlie Brown always was at odds with the kite-eating tree and when I saw this particular one it seemed so very poignant that I had to take the shot. The lines, contrast and general composition of this shot give it a touch of melancholy.
Nice shot, Bob. I like the way that the dark branches stand out against the lighter clouds in the background.
Is that a kite stuck in the tree? I recently took a photo of a kite in a tree (see Project 30 blog), because I find there's always something wistful about that.
this is very fascinating, bob. i'm trying to put words to why i feel that way. i'm a very visual person, and it's not always easy for me to describe my feelings about something visual in words the way some other folks do. let's see...i'm seeing horrizontal lines against vertical ones. expanses of space against clusters of things. i'm seeing threes. three sets of rectangles in the bench, three trees, three horizontals in the shore, the wave (?), and the skyline. but i think i'm particularly responding to the lace-like leaves in the trees against the softy clouds. and the black against white of that. this is a very arty shot for me. i love it.
