So they are!  It's surprising how affectionate they can be. The problem is with longevity.  When tamed, rats can live for quite awhile, but they're still relatively short-lived.  I wish you luck with yours, Rita. Keep it healthy and not overfed and you'll have it for a good long time.  Enjoy! :-)

Does anyone remember the movie "Finding Nemo" ?  The gulls were always saying; "mine, mine, mine".   That's pretty much how I hear them anymore.  I have stopped (pretty much) calling them flying rats though.

This gull was eying up our bag of popcorn.  They're always a photo op at the beach!
